Board Member
Lisa Hutton is the Dean of the College of Law and Public Service at National University, where she oversees a portfolio of 16 academic programs spanning law, paralegal studies, public administration, criminal justice, forensic sciences, and homeland security. She has led legal education in Contra Costa County for nearly two decades, having served as Dean of the JFK School of Law in Pleasant Hill before its integration into National University, as well as Dean of the College of Law and Interim Provost at Northcentral University.
Before transitioning to academia, Dean Hutton practiced civil litigation in Oakland, focusing on insurance defense, medical malpractice, and employment law. A longtime contributor to Contra Costa Lawyer, she has written on the role of paralegals in the legal profession and has presented widely on legal ethics, curriculum innovation, and academic assessment. Dean Hutton holds a J.D. from JFK School of Law and a B.A. in Political Science and Government from California State University, Chico.
